Song: The Fall Band: Spilt Milk Location: North Shore/ Northern Beaches, Australia Date of release: 19/07/17 Genre: Melodic Rock Reviewer: Byron Hall For Fans Of: Sticky Fingers, Radiohead, Tame Impala
So these guys are from the northern beaches, don't cry over them (Get it?) I've been there a few time and it was really nice. I really wouldn't of thought that a song of this caliber could have come from HSC students. I actually got kicked out of music in my senior years. No great loss though. I'm glad these boys didn't follow my fate...
"The Fall" starts out with a very funky Sticky Fingers-esq vibe. Shame they broke up otherwise i could totally see these guys playing some dope Nimbin festival along side Tame Impala. The central 'chill' vibe flows with the very simplistic but trance like licks with multi layering of beautifully crafted effects.
Nearing the final verses the whole texture of the piece almost has a psychedelic breakdown, The haunting vocals slowly building up with the bass hits a Radiohead-Ok Computer mix down, its simply one of the greatest songs in this genre to come across my ears.
