Alright here we go, 'Stormy Weather' is the lead single off Arborview’s debut EP, the band have also just signed with We Are Triumphant, yeah that American powerhouse of a label! Huge props boys, you know for making it out of your home town.
Their debut EP will drop later this year and if you’re a pop punk lover I'd be keeping an ear out for it. I have to say this is the first time listening to these north Sydney lads and I was pleasantly surprised.
The boys definitely seem like they have done their homework laying down a well structured song, Scotty Berger certainly has that signature pop punk vocal down and the backing vocals and harmonies create a bigger punch when needed. Although sounding great, the lyrics haven’t strayed much from your typical pop punk topics (at some point taking on your hometown has to reach a point of cliché, doesn’t it??) Which could put people off but it works when mixed with solid guitar work and subtle bass runs out of the second verse from Eamon O’Byrne keep the song from dragging. Alex Powys drums are strong, and I can’t wait to hear more of it, just to hear if he can unleash as much as it’s hinted at in this track.
I could certainly see this becoming a fan favourite at shows, the chorus seems perfect for crowd sing-a- longs with the front row bouncing around, a quicker tempo is sure to get the crowd going. Hopefully the rest of the EP keeps the tempo up, I’d hate to see a dip in energy, but i guess we will have to wait until the end of the month.
