‘And as you fucking struggle we’ll just sit back and laugh, you’ve done this to yourself, you chose this path’
Supa Suplex are a relatively new band and this was the first I had heard of them. My first impression was surprised, to be honest I had no idea what to expect but the tune was a pretty solid track. My main criticism is the recording of the track, it’s pretty muffled in parts and the instruments fade in and out throughout, but in saying that the potential is there and I’m pretty keen to hear more from these lads. The song has a very Smith Street band feeling to me, mainly due to the vocalist. The song has nice transitions throughout, they add in the layers of instruments nicely but like I said, the recording is muffled and really gets in the way of what’s going on.
There is some nice guitar work throughout with little licks and a solo chucked in for good measure to keep the listeners engaged. I can see the ending gang vocals working really well in a sweaty ass venue towards the end of a good night. I enjoyed the lyrics throughout the track, as I know we’ve all been faced with some mates who you would have rather not of come across so I related to the track instantly. Overall despite my gripes about the recording of the track, I still really enjoyed it. I would be pretty keen to see these lads live, and even more keen to have them record some more music that comes out clearer. They’ve got a load of potential and a solid base to work off and I’m keen to follow them and see what is next to come for Supa Suplex.
