"It makes me sick, I can't take it, it makes me feel like a mess, you're nothing but worthless"
Just the other day Wodonga heavy outfit Visioner dropped 'Sociopath', a bouncy metalcore behemoth produced by the up and coming Melbourne based producer Chris Lalic of Windwaker. This track ticks all the boxes and really paints a great picture of what this band is. The riffs are sick, the vocals are tight, the chorus is catchy and the structure of this song is impeccable; not too shabby fellas!
The music video opens up with some panning shots of a man tied to a chair with a bag over his head to the sound of ambient synth dronings, only to be suddenly interrupted by the punchy drums and that killer main riff of the track which I find to be quite reminiscent of Polaris.
The video is mostly visuals of the band playing in this plastic lined room, interspersed with footage of what seems to be some kind of torture scenario between a young woman and the man with the bag over his face. All in all the video is pretty good, though unfortunately suffered some loss of integrity by way of production value, but still I feel this can be overlooked as I was only able to notice this when playing the video in full resolution on the TV. The video still looks fantastic on a mobile device, which I imagine most would be watching it from regardless.
For me, the 2 biggest highlights were that huge chorus and the fantastic production. This year I've seen Lalic's name on many different projects and every single one has been quality, this new track by Visioner being no exception. I'm very excited for the future of this band and I cant wait to see what they come up with next!
