"A divided mind can never dream to take the skies"
Trancestate hail from Wodonga, Victoria and are as they describe: Progressive Death Metal with an electronic twist. This is a sound that they definitely nail on their track 'Impact'.
Taken from their upcoming EP 'Planetary Awakening' and featuring guest vocals by local lads Dean Cooke from Visioner and Jason Groenveld from Hara Kiri, this is a track that is heavy to the bone and as a fan of synths in heavy music; this is a song that I can get in to.
The trade-off vocals between Ben and Dean are great and they both have a deep roar to their voices that gives the song a real heavy sound. Then once the clean vocals from Jason come in, the song adds another level. Contrasting the heavy vocals, the cleans come in with a soft synth lead-up that breaks up the song proficiently, and in a way that conveys the unique sound that is Trancestate.
The guitar work on the song is great, however in my opinion, the main riff of the song can get a little repetitive. A minor downfall of an overall great track and I look forward to hearing more from them in the lead up to their EP release.
Make sure to keep an eye out for this EP as these guys are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Wodonga/Albury heavy scene!
