Formed in 1990-1991 (after various name changes) high school friends formed Fujiwara in Virginia Beach. While the band has gone through a history of changing line ups, the standing punks of this three piece gold mine are, Guitarist Chris “Bucky” Clemmons, Bassist/ Vocalist Billy Burly, and Drummer Skillet (I asked for the full name but was sternly told “its just skillet man”). Signed to Fringe Records in Charleston South Carolina, the band has been rocking the east coast ever since.
This track is short, sweet and straight to the point. Standard progression throughout the song, but the transitions on this are absolutely smooth and banging. The vocals really shined on the bridge and chorus with a reclined gruff, but has an undertone of the attitude of someone calling you out, with the coolest of cool! While the bass on this almost felt lost in the mix in some parts, it was there with the perfect amount of accents complementing the drums where needed, the drums on this are an absolute blast. It will take you on a roller coaster of a ride while the guitar will have you grinding you teeth wanting more.
I happen to know their guitarist Bucky on a personal level and heard that there is a new album in the making. Nothing to report right now as far as names but songs are in the making and on the way.
