"Walking home alone again with nothing but your innocence to keep you warm tonight, it was hard to see the lights, behind the wheel so drunk he couldn't even comprehend how much he fucked things up, how much he fucked this up, and now I’m all messed up"
'Fade Away' is the first single to be released from the upcoming EP “You Won’t Come Home” which will be released on February 9th. Following on from last year’s 3 track EP, the Melbourne-based pop-punk/alternative rock outfit are naturally aiming for bigger aspirations after recently signing with Greyscale Records. Thematically, this song is about dealing with the grief and pain associated with the loss of somebody close to you. Vocalist Josh Walker delivers an emotional and very sincere vocal turn and the song as a whole is really solid, catchy and compelling.
The music video borrows the technique of reverse motion made famous by songs such as Coldplay’s 'The Scientist'. Whilst it’s not the most original, it does keep the viewer guessing as to what exactly is happening in the video’s narrative. Here we see a young man running along the side of the road in a dense bushland area and ending up in his bedroom. I won’t spoil what happens for those who haven’t watched the music video yet but all the pieces end all falling into place at the end of the film.
