“But this is what you never saw
Your pride took everything
But this is what you never saw
I’m still right here”

Melbourne based five piece, Colour & Shade have recently released a fist pumping new track off of their debut self-titled album, 'Colour & Shade'. Hearing ‘Blinded’ for the first time I had a sense of déjà vu and just as vocalist Tim Greenwood belted out the first verse I felt I knew exactly where this track was headed. It’s no surprise that ‘Blinded’ feels and sounds somewhat like The Amity Affliction; after all Troy Brady, producer of The Amity Affliction worked on the bands’ first album.

The format of ‘Blinded’ is typical of the genre with a simple hook surrounded by an all too familiar drum and guitar arrangement. The will have you singing along after thirty seconds. This is then contrasted by the growling screams of vocalist Tim Greenwood as he wails through versus like ‘With just a taste of your sordid lies, I’m not sorry for this, I won’t deny, Your face, as I peel back the truth, Chewed up and spit out, your hollow crown’ Drummer Graham King is faultless as he builds up the chorus whilst the licks of guitarist Mat Purcell dominate the verse.

‘Blinded’ feels very familiar, however, it’s this familiarity that hooks you in and has you humming along, tapping at your steering wheel.
