PREMIERE: Sixteen Days // Interstate [Exclusive Stream]

February 8, 2019

Your new favourite punk band Sixteen Days have just released their latest single 'Interstate' and we're exclusively streaming it right here, through Behind The Scene!

Sixteen Days, the self-titled 'sad-punk' band from Sydney are keeping the emo dream alive with an honest and raw sound influenced by the likes of Modern Baseball, Basement and Aussie faves Kisschasy.

Since forming in late 2015 the boys have been making a name for themselves in the scene with a series of Australia wide support shows and sold out headline shows celebrating the release of their debut EP 'If It Makes You Feel Less Sad'.

This next release is a step in a new direction for the boys combining indie rock with emo influenced hooks and honest, relatable lyrics. It certainly showcases their talent in both composition and songwriting; making it a solid follow-up to their debut EP.

Below you can find the exclusive stream of 'Interstate' and an exclusive interview with the band as we touch on inspiration and what it means to be involved in the live music scene.

//What does the future hold for you guys, in terms of this release?//

At the moment we have a few shows booked to celebrate the release of our new single, 'Interstate' and as well as a music video in the works. We’re hoping after this release that the future holds more touring as we’d love to travel around Australia playing shows.

//Where do you draw inspiration from?//

Some of our influences include: Have Mercy, Kisschasey, Modern Baseball, Moose Blood, Basement and The Hard Aches.

//What is the creating and writing process like?//

Our process is normally started by Jake. He’ll record an acoustic demo or sometimes a full demo with rhythm, bass and drums. That’ll be sent over to the rest of the boys and they’ll add their parts! Once we get together and practise, we really start to flesh out the songs a little more.

//What does this release mean to you?//

Interstate’ means a lot to the whole band but especially Brady and Jake who co-wrote the lyrics. The song was written after both boys had gone through particularly tough break ups with their "teenage sweethearts". In a way it’s a coming of age song that represents moving on to greater things in a healthy way.

//What is the biggest set back, and the thing you’re most grateful for with regard to your career as a band?//

Our biggest set back at the moment is probably that half of the band lives in Sydney and the other half is in Wollongong and we all run on different schedules in regards to work which can make it hard to find time to come together and practice.

We’re grateful for every show we get to play, but one of our proudest moments was opening for Hundredth and Moose Blood at the Factory Theatre.

//What does the live music scene mean to you?//

The live music scene has always been like a family to us. We’re fortunate to have made friends with so many talented artists in the scene that we look up to. It’s so great to see more people coming to shows and keeping the scene alive.

//What is your dream local festival line-up, that you could be a part of?//

Our dream festival line up would be:

Hockey Dad, Dear Seattle, Yours Truly, The Lazy Susans, Stumps, Split Feed, Jacob, Whatever Forever, Raised as Wolves, Sketch Jets, Egoism, Blue Velvet, Speakeasy and Spit Chewy.
